Nobunaga was great and deserves all the praise. Under later generations of the Tokugawa Japan ended up becoming completely isolationist. Under Hideyoshi they stopped using Ironclad warships (which caused their navy to get REKT by Korea) and Hideyoshi hypocritically enforced the caste system once again. Shortly after Nobunaga's death Japan almost immediately retracted much of his changes to their own detriment.
Although things like volley fire may have been a natural byproduct of how Japan conducted bow warfare anyways. Considering that Japan had up until recently been backwards as fuck innovating in such a manner is pretty remarkable. He also integrated ironclad ships into his navy, once again being among the first in history to do so. Most distinctly perhaps Nobunaga used the first case of documented volley fire (with firearms) by around 20 years. Nobunaga wouldn't even create his own clothing from all cultures he was aware of. Instead of genuflecting to the missionaries he openly exploited them and pitted them against the Budhist monks (whom he despised for exploiting their political immunity) as a form of entertainment. Nobunaga wasn't truly a pure Westaboo but simply an eccentric that loved foreign cultures in general.
